Hydrium Ice Fall, A Moment of Ice, Captured in Time
For our 10th anniversary, Isotope Watches introduces a unique blend of nature and craftsmanship: the Hydrium Ice Fall. This limited-edition dive watch transforms a gemstone into something that feels both alive and suspended, like water just before it turns into ice.

This is our first watch featuring a stone dial, and not just any stone. At its center lies a sheet of Brazilian amethyst, meticulously cut to a remarkable thickness of only 0.4 mm. Born deep within the Earth's warmth, this crystal comes to life anew, feeling carved from the heart of winter itself—translucent, fractured, and luminous. It presents a quiet contradiction: warmth frozen into both the surface and the depth.
The idea first came up in the Ice Cave of the Mer de Glace in Chamonix. Inside those ancient blue tunnels, light filters through centuries-old ice, revealing veins, cracks, and delicate textures hidden beneath the surface. Drips and rivulets trace slow paths across the cave walls, as if time itself moves at a glacier’s pace. That stillness, that suspended energy, became the inspiration for Ice Fall, a moment of motion captured as something beautifully static.
Choosing the right material was crucial. We needed something natural, organic, and capable of showing translucency and depth without artificiality. Ultra-thin amethyst provided exactly that: the interplay of color, light, and crystalline structure that feels unmistakably glacial.

This sense of depth isn’t just visual; it’s mechanical. Through the ethereal dial, you can see glimpses of the La Joux-Perret automatic movement underneath, with its generous 68-hour power reserve. This creates a subtle tension between surface calm and inner motion, echoing the glacier’s slow pulse.
The hands on Ice Fall thoughtfully echo this story. Their angular shapes draw inspiration from the metal spikes on mountaineering boots and the geometry of icicles; purposeful, sharp, and elemental. A heat-blued seconds hand and indexes filled with Super-LumiNova add subtle blue tones that enhance the cold, clear aesthetic of glacial melt flowing into hidden lakes and streams.

Built on the strong Hydrium platform, a 40 mm Swiss-automatic series known for its capability and character. Ice Fall stands out not only for what it shows but also for what it evokes. It’s not a reinterpretation of ice; it’s its own moment within it.
Limited to just 20 pieces, the Hydrium Ice Fall celebrates winter, ice, and transformation, and marks the beginning of a new decade for Isotope.
